Make Good & Surface Restoration

Restoring your building fabric to the standard it deserves

Mechanical and electrical installations almost always require some degree of access to building fabric. Walls are chased for cables. Ceilings are opened for ductwork. Floors are lifted for pipework. The technical work may be completed to an excellent standard, but if the surfaces aren’t properly restored, the space doesn’t reflect that.

Our make-good service addresses exactly this. We restore building fabric efficiently and to a high standard, leaving no visible trace of the works that preceded us.

What’s covered?

Our make good and surface restoration services include:

  • Plaster and plasterboard repairs — patching, skimming, and full surface reinstatement following cable routes, penetrations, and access openings
  • Ceiling tile replacement — replacing damaged or disturbed suspended ceiling tiles to match existing grids
  • Dry lining and partition repairs — reinstating plasterboard partitions and dry lining following M&E access
  • Boxing-in works — constructing neat, properly finished casings around exposed pipework, ductwork, and containment
  • Floor reinstatement — repairing or replacing flooring following underfloor pipework or cable installations
  • Skirting and trim reinstatement — replacing or matching existing skirting boards and architraves following works
  • Fire stopping — applying intumescent seals and fire-rated materials at service penetrations through fire compartment walls and floors
  • Surface preparation — sanding, filling, and priming surfaces to ensure decoration-ready finishes

What can you expect?

Our make-good team works closely with the M&E installation team throughout the project, not just at the end. This means surface repairs are completed progressively as installation works conclude in each area, reducing the overall programme and allowing spaces to be returned to use more quickly.

All make good works are inspected prior to decoration, ensuring surfaces are fully prepared and ready for a high-quality finish.

Key benefits

  • Surfaces restored to original condition as standard
  • Consistent quality across the full project scope
  • Progressive make good reduces overall programme time
  • Fire stopping completed correctly and documented
  • No need to appoint and coordinate a separate trade
  • Single accountable team from installation through to restoration
